Update from Audiology visit

They gave me a hearing test, which afterwards she said there wasn’t much difference than before, which I looked at her surprised as I was expecting a difference. But after a few times this was said, she finally told, well there is a bit of a change, I’ve lost 10% of middle tone in my right ear. Not much difference! It’s a big difference for me, for someone who already as hearing problems. So I’ve lost more hearing. :(

But I have air vents in now, in my current moulds. Did not need to have new ones. They trimmed a bit off the end of the moulds, and this just gave room to add an air vent. I now feel better for having this done. And touch wood, it’s made a difference.

Off to Audiology today

Off to Audiology today later, which means I’ll be late for work, or cancel it and wait god knows how many weeks later. This was a cancellation appointment I got. Texted Mum to let work know I’ll be late and why, and to point out I’ll be there soon as I can. So they know that although I’ll be late, I’m already in the grounds I work with my appointment at Audiology being there. So hopefully they are understanding.

Hopefully I’ll feel better hearing wise after. Told Audiology while making appointment through email, my problems, and that I probably need a hearing test as I feel my results for right ear would have been affected, because my tinnitus was really a pain that day. Will ask when there if I can have air vents put in some how in my moulds too. Let you know later when I know more myself.

Air vents in ear moulds

As you know from my posts my new ear moulds don’t have any air vents, and there is no room for any, where they used to be on my old ones.

My left ear mould, after a few days I got used to it, although I never felt bunged up. But my right ear mould took longer to get used to. I felt bunged up, although I discovered as well that my ear was playing up as well and feeling deaf. This has now cleared up, and I’ve been wearing my right hearing aid for over a week or so now. The last few days I’ve noticed I also don’t feel bunged up wearing my right hearing aid, so hopefully I have finally got used to it.

Do you have air vents in your ear moulds?

And for those who had air vents in their old ear moulds, but now don’t have them in their new ones like me. Have you took some time getting used to them?

Started wearing my right hearing aid again

Started wearing my right hearing aid again today, with my ear seeming ok now. I think it’s now the matter of time to getting used to my hearing aid now. Since wearing hearing aids I’ve always had air vents in them. And I think this is why I’m having problems. But it’s early days and only time will tell. If I still don’t feel right, I’ll have to see if there is something they can do. But I’d doubt it this time, cos there isn’t the room for an airĀ  vent like I had in my old ones. So don’t know what they will do.

Some updates

Just some updates:

My ear over the weekend does not feel stuffed, so I’m hoping it’s cleared up. To make sure though I’m going to leave it for a few days before I put my right hearing aid back in.

This morning I went out to buy the necessary things for when I buy my Syrian Hamster. The cage was set up by dinner ready, and I went to my local pet shop in the afternoon, for my hamster. I decided I was having a female by then. (Could not make my mind up this morning). I will show a picture of her soon here on my blog. I’ve called her Bubbles.

I picked up my parcel at the Post Office this morning, and I was sooo excited when I knew where it was from! My t-shirt and tank top from Speak Up Librarian Shop has arrived. Yipee! I will post photos here as promised later, modelling them.

My ear problem update

Called at my doctors today regarding my ear, and I was able to wait and see the Duty Doctor. I’m to give it chance to settle in the next couple of weeks, as because I had a cough that just cleared up a week ago, that was more likely to be fluid behind the ear drum, if there is swelling of the tubing that connects to your throat, and drains mucus. If it’s flared up, it can cause narrowing, so it does not drain away easy. He looked at my ears and there were no signs of ear wax or infection.

Ear Problem

Over the weekend my right ear kind of felt stuffed. But I still felt like it Sunday even though I was ok with my left ear. As like my boyfriend said, it’s probablly because of getting used to my new moulds. But I felt like my left ear had accepted by Sunday, so why not my right?

I did not think anything else of it Monday, even though I was aware I did not feel right. It wasn’t until when I took them out at night, when I was home on my laptop, that I realised my right ear is playing up. I still had the same sensation, but without my hearing aids in this time. I’ve not experienced this before, so I’m hoping it’s something simple like ear wax. So while down Sutton tomorrow shopping, I’m going to pop into my G.P.’s and see if I can get an appointment soon. I think this is the best place to start before Audiology, in case there’s an infection, or ear wax… or something.

My new ear moulds

Collected my new ear moulds today from Audiology, with my butterfly inside them, that I wanted. The butterfly in my moulds are more noticeable than I’d thought they’d be. But that’s alright. Even better than expected.

I can tell the difference wearing new moulds. I definitely needed a new right one particular, with me having this one since 2002. Putting my new ear moulds was like wearing them the first time round. For example having to pull my ear slightly to get my ear mould in properly. My voice feels like it’s in my head slightly too, but it’s soon starting to wear off. And the moulds feel a little bit bulky. But I’m happy with them so far.

The only thing I’ve noticed which I did not observe until at home, was that I don’t have any air vents in these, so I will have to see how I go. Looking at them I don’t think they would be able to put them in, in these if I wanted them.

Monday

Had an Audiology appointment today, so I could hopefully have new ear moulds. Especially my right one, as this has been the only ear mould I’ve had since I first started wearing it in 2002. So its done me well.

I asked if there were novelty ones available, like a butterfly or glitter ones, after discovering from others that these are available on the NHS at their hospital. I discovered they are also available at mine too! Yipee!

She shown me selection I could pick from, but I stuck with the butterfly one, after seeing this was still available. They will let me know when they are ready to collect. Can’t wait :)

I’m also excited about something else too. I’m waiting for a couple a tops from Speak Up Shop, that I know have been shipped. Can’t wait! Will model them here. So watch this space.
