New Badge – Review

I was going to review this badge in the New Year, but as I’ve already made my mind up about this badge, I thought I’d post my review of it on my blog now.

When I first received my badge, my first impressions were I did not think this badge was worth £3 ………… and I bought two of these! But I wasn’t going to return them as I needed a badge that was hopefully going to be more noticeable on my uniform at work.

I took one of these badges to work to put on my uniform to find the catch was awkward. Again I know I should have sent it back, but I didn’t. A week later the fastener on this badge dropped to bits. So I brought my other badge in, in which the fastener was fine on this one, and currently as this post goes on air I’m still wearing it. But as you will see in the photo on the left, the ‘t’ at the start of talking has blurred. For this to happen a spot of water must have gone on it, but if this was an enamel or metal badge like past badges I’ve worn, this would not have happened, and they were much cheaper too! So my round up conclusion of this badge is its not worth the money because of the materials used. This badge is plastic with the wording etc.. stuck on with a sheen to it. The badge will wear in time at the corners, which there’s a start of it on mine but nothing too bad just yet. But for the positive side, the badge was noticeable.

But when it comes to me needing a new one, I shall hopefully find a badge like this somewhere but using better materials like metal or enamel. So if any UK based badge making businesses are reading this, and can make me a badge like this one but in metal or enamel then please let me know, as I’ll be very interested.

Here’s a new badge I’m trying out

This is a new badge I ordered which I received today, which I’ll be wearing for work. Usuall I wear other badge (see earlier post) but it does not get noticed very well since my uniform was changed. So this should stand out better.

Its ideal for the deaf and hard of hearing like me. I came across the site that sells these after doing a search for badges, to see what else was out there than I’m aware of already. This caught my eye because hopefully by wearing this is saves repeating myself to people I may come across to please look at me while speaking, and it will hopefully stand out better on my uniform.

Do you wear a badge in public?

Do you wear in public a badge to let other people you know that your Deaf? I wear a badge but just at work as this is only where I feel comfortable wearing it, (which is the one in the picture I currently use) although I’m aware if I felt comfortable to wear it at all other times then it would help people who don’t know me. The reason I don’t wear in public outside of work is because I don’t want to be at an advantage of being mugged, should someone think I was easy prey because of my deafness. Which I think is sad.
