Tinnitus

Tinnitus back with a vengance today. Ringing high pitched in my right ear today since I got up this morning. I put it down to stress at work in the past two days. Arrgh…

Well its Friday, which means last day at work today, and my weekend off to not think about it. Hope tonight goes quick.

My friend comes back today from her week away. We will be having a bottle of wine tonight with dinner, when I’m back from work. Her treat.

Tomorrow we will make a day of it down Mansfield.

So should be relaxed and chilled.

Would have been…

Would have been Lady’s birthday today, if she was still alive. Lady would have been 13 years old.latest resting place

As you can see from above picture, my friend Kath has concreted Lady’s grave to protect it, as something, possibly a fox had been digging at it. But thankfully her resting place wasn’t disturbed, although I did find it upsetting that something tried. Kath has done a good job I think. You would have thought the concrete had been there for some time, and not just recently.

Kath knew it was Lady’s birthday at some point, so she put some flowers down for her in a pot, before going away. While rabbit sitting and looking after her place this week, I have lit a candle today in memory of her.

E-books……Don’t bother

When I buy a book, I usually buy a paper version, where I can sit back…hold it in my hands….feel the paper and enjoy my book. But after reading Twilight which I really enjoyed, I could not wait to get into the next sequel. So I’ve never done it this way before, but I thought I’d buy an e-book. NEVER AGAIN!! I’ll stick to paper in future. There was an error saying try again later on this e-book site, but like I do I thought I’d check my phone credit, and it was deducted off my phone credit. I even rang my mobile phone provider to check, and they told me it had. So  since 2nd Sept I have had a running battle with this particular e-book company. I told them everything that happened, what they needed to know. I’ve even started telling them what I plan to do next if this is not soon sorted. I failed to get phone calls on the day I was promised, so I ended up again phoning them back. You can imagine I was really annoyed now by this point. So basically I told them stuff your book, I now want a refund because this particular person who was supposed to get back to me did not. And I’m doing the chasing again. So to keep me quiet and try to make me happy, she sent me a link to my phone so I could get this e-book while they sort out this problem, and get to the point of refunding me. I also gave her my email address so they could contact me this way also.

But now I’m getting stupid questions by email. Even got my mobile number wrong. My final email went back directly with the person I last spoke to today. To get it sorted now, and to refund me Friday. They can look into where it went in their own time instead of wasting mine. They only have to get a conference call started, with themselves on it, me and my mobile phone provider, they will be able to hear it for themselves. Something they felt they do not need to do before when I mentioned it last time. So if they have got all what they needed, then why did they not refund me there and then on the last conversation?

Active day

It was my usual day again where I get up, have breakfast, before making my way to Nottingham for my counselling session. Which has slowly helped me.But this time today my Mum was coming with me, because after my session we were having a day out together while there.

After counselling, first stop was somewhere for dinner. I thought Pizza Hut would be a good place, as we both have never been in one before, and I wanted to go somewhere different where I have never been. I know Pizza Hut had a kind of make over and change how they do things, but I never realised exactly just how much. Wow! I was impressed! It did not feel like a take away, it felt and looked like a restaurant, and I was surprised what drinks were available. We both had a salmon pasta bake. We don’t like garlic normally with things we’ve had in the past, but we both decided to try the garlic bread that was with our dish. If we did not like it we could always leave the garlic bread. And we were surprised, as we discovered we could eat it. Not alot! But we liked it! Will be telling Richard Saturday when I see him, as he reckoned I would like it. Mum had a J2O drink and I had a smoothie. We nearly bought a bottle of wine between us! Mum was already thinking about a dessert before we got our dinner, but she discovered she was full to fit that in!

We then had a look around a few shops. I bought a fleece jacket I needed for my outer jacket I bought a few weeks back from trespass, then we went into Publishers Book Clearance, where I bought a Collins Compact Dictionary and Thesaurus book, which will come in handy. Mum bought a few books too, one which I started reading on the bus on our way back from Nottingham to Sutton, which I got to grips with from the start. So she’s let me take it home to read first, as she still reading the one I’d lent her. I’m already a quarter a way through it! It’s called Lord Loss by Darren Shan.

When we got back to Sutton, our last stop before going our separate ways was at Wilkinsons. Mum wanted to get some bulbs for her garden, and I wanted more silk flowers etc.. the same sort I’d bought yesterday. So I could fill a vase up better. This will be displayed in my study. Something to look at.

After a couple of hours rest, I went out with my friend Anne, after she called round at the flat from doing her shift at a charity shop. We called back her place before making our way to a pub where we’ve been before for a meal. I had broccoli and brie prepared for me as there was no chicken in the carvery. But I have had this before so I know its nice. Had a selection of veg from choices available with a drizzle of parsley sauce over my veg, and a bit of cranberry sauce on the side. Lovely! :) For my drink, I had a glass of Bulmer’s pear cider.

From there we then made our ways home.

Tomorrow I’m off to Newark. :)

Honest Scrap Award

Sarah from Speak up librarian has gave me an Honest Scrap Award. So after reading what this is all about, which if you click on the link below you can too, I have now done mine.

http://speakuplibrarian.blogspot.com/2009/09/honest-scrap-award.html

So here is 10 honest things about myself.

1. I only eat chicken and fish. I don’t eat any other meat. I used to not eat meat at all at one time when I was in my teens at school.

2. When I was 18 years old, bus drivers used to think I was still at school and charge me half fare on the bus, till I told em I was 18. People used to think I was mad for being honest about it. They used to say I should have got on for half fare while I could. When I was in my 20’s, I still found people used to think I was 19 or some other young age. Thankfully, buying a drink from a pub was never a problem.

3. 23rd October this year, will be 2 years since me and Richard have been going out together. I discovered after a few months going out with him, that it was love at first sight for him from the first day he met me.

4. I make hand made greeting cards, so this comes in handy when it someones birthday in the family. I don’t have to go to a shop for a card. I went into self employment in my spare time for a year doing this as well once.  Although it was by accident, I enjoyed the experience gained from it.

5. I struggle with my confidence. Its always something I’ve battled with from time to time. Hopefully I’m slowly getting better.

6. I’ve recently started doing a home study course with the Writers Bureau, called Writing For Children. So I may come out with 1 or more books for children in the future. I have 1 or 2 in the pipeline I’m working on.

7. Although I’m animal mad, I know my limits and would never overcrowd a home with pets. 1 or 2 are enough. But since Lady passed away I don’t have plans to have another pet, as I have other things to occupy me. So having a pet would not be fair at the moment.

8. I like a variety of music, but mostly I play stuff with a good beat like R& B.

9. I don’t like racism or people that behave like a thug.

10. I would never go to a school reunion. My years at a Comprehensive School were not the best years of my life. My life started when I left with GCSE’s.

Hope you liked the 10 honest things about me. My Honest Scrap Award now goes to:

http://funnyoldlife.wordpress.com/

So here are the rules!

1. Link back to the person who gave you the award

2. Forward the award to other bloggers

3. List 10 honest things about yourself.

Have fun!

Reading

I’ve found since I read lots of books again now, as I need to keep up with today’s books, as I’m doing my home study course ‘Writing for children’ that I seem to sleep better. Yes.. I can still have the odd night where I’m still awake even though I’m sometimes tired, but since getting back into reading books I’ve noticed when I do sleep, I know I have slept, because I really feel refreshed in a morning, and feel like I have slept. I never thought I’d ever feel like that again!

When you read do you feel the same?

My weekend

Had a relaxing weekend, except for Saturday when I went on the Wii to play ten pin bowling with Richard and my Mum. I found I still don’t have the energy as I should. I had to call it a day after playing two games. And I was already struggling half way through the second game!

Enjoyed watching my Mum have fun…laughing. They played a further two games. It was nice to see my Mum laughing and having fun. :)

I also started reading a book today today called Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.

Sunday, me and Richard went down down so I could get some compost and containers, for two of my plants that needed re-potting. I only managed to get compost from one place, so we had to make our way to another shop for the containers. But before that, I needed a rest.

Once I got my containers needed, we made a slow steady walk back home to my flat. After a rest, I started on re-potting my plants, which Richard helped me to do. One container I bought, we felt was too big, but it was all they had, so my Dracaenca Marginata will have plenty of room to grow into. The other container, which was ok, was for my Spider Plant, which I’ve now put back in the bathroom, next to the cactus. For the finishing touch, I added blue stones around my, to match what was in the tray underneath.

Had a dumb moment

Yesterday I had a dumb moment. I bought myself a top up on 3 and went to key in my voucher number, so I could credit my phone. (never got round to phoning em about my debit card not allowing me yet to top up)

Well I keyed in my voucher number as before when I did this (accept this time was the wrong way), and thought its not recognising my number! So after a few more careful attempts, I went back into the shop to see I really had been given a 3 voucher, and told me where I could get help if I still had the same problem. Had another go, but still the same. Had to leave it for time being otherwise I would have been late for work otherwise.

Later I had another go and still the same, not being recognised. So rang 3 customer service and explained my problem to the nice lady who served me, and who’s voice is familiar to me, as when I have rang customer service before, this person has been the same one.

I discussed my problem. Gave her my voucher number. Did not work as I thought. Gave her the serial number, which shown it had not been used yet. Giving her my voucher number once again. At this point getting frustrated and confused as well as struggling sometimes to hear well, and also understand her accent in parts. But although I was feeling frustrated, I still stayed calm, except for when I said I’ve paid £10 for a voucher I can’t use, and not happy. We had been working on this for about 10 minutes or more. Going over on things and asking same questions, including are there any other numbers on the voucher question again, which I said no as before.

Then finally I clicked and said s**t! Which I immediately apologised to her and said this swear word was not aimed at her, but myself. As the penny finally dropped and I just discovered what I did wrong. There was another number….thee voucher number needed to key in to add my credit. Durr!

She immediately said to me don’t worry about it, this happens all the time. I told her this does not usually happen to me, and its not as though I have not topped up this way before. But she carried on reassuring me, and I thanked her again for being patient with me. While we were on the phone. I gave her the right number off the voucher so she could credit my account. Again I thanked her.

Where was my brain that day?  I can only assume to recent events which is another story, that somehow my brain was left in the bottom of the toilet, or it was at home somewhere.

I’ll make sure I won’t be doing this again when topping up.

Once again thank you to the lady at 3 customer service!

Speaking of when I wasn’t well…. here’s a picture I taken of flowers, my boyfriend Richard bought me, to cheer me up when I wasn’t well. 18082009(001)
