A poem to share with you

Smiling is infectious, you catch it like the flu
when someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner and somone saw my grin,
when he smiled I realized I’d passed it onto him! A single smile, just like mine,
I thought about that smile and realized its worth,
could travel round the earth.
don’t leave it undetected,
lets start a epidemic quick,
and get the world infected.

I thought I’d share this poem with everyone here on my blog. I don’t know who wrote it, but I came across this on my boat trip at Loughborough. See http://l1zblog.wordpress.com/2009/05/23/loughborough-boat-trip/ for that post.

Bought new sandals…

new sandals 001 My reguar visitors who visit my blog will know that I had an operation on my foot last year, after I did a Thank You on here to Newark Hospital where I had it done. But for those who don’t know, I had an operation on the ball of my foot, so I wouldn’t get any pain everytime I walk. At the same time I also had an enlarged bone (growth) removed off my ankle), as this that I’ve had since a kid started causing pain too.

Before I had this op, to help with my ball of the foot pain, I had to wear an insole inside my shoes that were made to suit me, from the hospital. In total I had been wearing this insole for over 6 years, which meant I was a bit restricted to what I could wear shoe wise. I was limited to trainers, or shoes that were not for my age, just so I know I could get insole inside my shoe. I could not wear sandals with me having to wear shoes that would hold my insole in place.

Well to get to my point now….you can imagine my excitement when I bought a pair of sandals just recently. A lovely silver strappy pair. I would like some more when I have time to browse in black or brown next. But it seems to be the year for high heeled of flats where I’ve been looking. So I was lucky to get these, a perfect, one and a half inch heel, these were discovered by the help of my boyfriend who found this pair I did not notice. I now only need glorious sunny weather to wear them. :)

Loughborough boat trip

Today was when I went on a boat trip at Loughborough, that Peter Le Marchant Trust provide. Click on this link for more details about them at http://www.peterlemarchanttrust.co.uk/index.html

I had to wait outside New Cross Community Church for being picked up. Two small mini buses pulled up to take us there. My friend Anne was already on one mini bus as it picked her up before me, which this was the mini bus for me to get on also. But I also had a surprise this morning, my friend, Kath called at my flat and she was coming on this trip too. Anne and Kath had kept this quiet for a good few months, to surprise me on the day. And it WAS a SURPRISE! Once we were all all picked up there, we were on our way to Loughborough!

Some had been on this boat trip before that were there, including my friend Anne. My friend Kath had been to Loughborough before along time ago, but not on a boat trip. I’ve never been here or been on a boat before, so this was a new experience all round that I enjoyed and found relaxing. And thankfully the weather was nice too. :)

Here are some photos I’d taken on my camera phone, while inside the boat. I only went on one occassion to the top deck as I felt more at ease inside the boat.

I seen lots of ducks and mallards with their young, and it was lovely to see the swans with their young too, which I was not quick enough to take a picture of them, as I enjoyed watching the young trying to keep up with their parents. I thought it was rather cute how they seem to wobble along in the water.

At one point I seen geese with their young as well, and coots. There were lots of dragonflys about as well, which I like to see.

I had to edit this picture before displaying on here, as my camera phone had taken more than the eye could see.

As I took it, my friend was laughing and trying to get my attention, and I noticed some others were laughing and speaking out loud too, but I wanted to take this shot of the swan that went by. After I done taking it, my friend told me that out on the bank, on a property just out of view of this picture, a bloke was sitting stark naked for everyone to see. She thought that I noticed and that I was taking a picture of him. But I was totally unaware. So when I got home, I had to edit this, as I got more than I bargained for, as my camera phone took more than I originally seen. I can’t believe this did not catch my eye!

My move has been tinged with sadness

My move has been tinged with sadness. As you know I mentioned how Lady’s test had been bought forward as she deteriorated at the weekend. The test results I waited for came back in 20 minutes and shown her kidneys were getting worse, but still very slowly, so were not bad as originally expected. I kept her in overnight at the vets, so they could flush her body of  toxins with fluids, which hopefully she would feel better enough to start eating again. Apparently she ate a bit, and when I collected her it looked promising, as first impressions her eyes looked brighter, and she seemed alert. But when I took her home, I noticed she had not got any better and still refused to eat. So sadly I had to make the decision yesterday afternoon (20th May) to put her to sleep. Which she went quickly and peacefully.

My friend Kath was kind enough to offer to have Lady buried in her garden, as so I had somewhere to go if I wanted with me being in a flat and having no garden. I said my last goodbye to Lady, and my Mum had her chance to say goodbye too, along with my friend Kath and my boyfriend Richard. I then went into the house while Richard and Kath seen to the rest. Once it was done I went outside again. Kath had picked a very lovely spot for her in her garden, which I’m extremely grateful for.

This was the last picture I had taken of Lady before she came ill. I will be putting a notice on Lady’s Blog also about her being put to sleep. I have no plans just yet closing down Lady’s Blog. I will keep it up and running as long as there’s still visitors who want to come and visit.

Lady’s Test Been Bought Forward

Lady had to be taken to the vets this afternoon after deteriorating at the weekend, so her her test was bought forward, in which I was able to wait for 20 minutes for the results to be ready. She’s got worse, but it wasn’t as bad as we all expected, but there would be toxins in her body which are making her feel ill as she is at the moment. So I had a few options and decided to give her a chance, so she’s currently at the vets still, where she will stay overnight. She will be given fluids to hydrate her and to flush out her toxins. Hopefully by doing this she will feel better enough to start eating again, as the last time she ate was Saturday morning, but it was only about the amount of a 50p piece.

I have to phone the vets in the morning at 10am to see how she is doing, and hopefully will know by then whether she’ll be coming home or not.

I will keep you posted.

Dreading next test on Lady

22nd May I take Lady to the vets for taking her blood, to test on her liver and kidneys to see how they are. Which I’m dreading when I get the results back a few days later. I’m confident her thyroid test will be ok, but it’s a her kidneys I’m more bothered about, as they are slightly showing signs of deteriorating. But she’s eating and happy, and can still get up to her favourite spots. So as long as she seems happy and ok I will try not to worry about when the time comes events, that’s unpleasent to think about and upsetting.

But she is slightly now and again unsteady with her back legs. So will need to mention this on my next visit to the vets. She’s taking her tablets well, which I hide in her chicken to help with her over-active thyroid. Lady doesn’t play now, but rare occassions when she does it’s nice and short. But she likes her fuss more in her old age.

Only time will tell on next results on how she goes.

Gave up looking

For over 3 years I looked for work, as I was planning leaving where I currently am for better working conditions, but in all that time of applying for different jobs, I only had 3 interviews (2 at the same place), so I gave up looking any longer, and decided to stick where I am. Unless I was to try my hand at being Self Employed in my spare time doing my favourite thing… hand made greeting cards, and see where it takes me that way after 2 years. But this is a big IF at the moment now at the moment with how I’ve been recently. I may still decided to keep it as a hobby.

And I think one of my job interviews I particular went for. Deafness got in the way. But I can’t do anything about that as had the interview. (Which I mentioned about this also in an earlier post on 17th February 2009), click this link if you want to read that again too at http://l1zblog.wordpress.com/2009/02/17/do-you-work/ Other place where in total I had 2 interviews a year apart, because I still shown interest in the company. I was absolutely gutted 2 months later after last years interview. This interview I had I was aware there was no job going yet, but because I was still showing interest in the company a year later he interviewed me again, and I was offered a work trial, which I accepted as so he could see if I was good, but also if I could see myself there as I never done his job before. I did this work trial on a Sunday 7am till 11am, and I was buzzing with excitement in making my way down which was local to me. I was shown the ropes by 2 women that were doing a shift there, and had a go myself after watching how it was done. And I really enjoyed it! They said I’d done a good job, and I wasn’t bad for a first timer. So I was happy even more knowing that when I left they’d be a good report for the boss, and hopefully if a job came up soon then I’d be offered as promised.

I carried on looking for work at the job centre, and about 2 months later from that work trial, at the job centre I came across a job that looked very familar. I handed it to the desk and said, don’t tell me, I’ll tell you, and said who I thought it was. Turned out I was right. You can imagine how annoyed, gutted and upset I was then. I contacted my adviser from the RNID who I was under and texted her about it. I told her to say he has a good long term memory, he has a terrible short one. I’ve seen a job for the exact position I was promised that I did a ork trial for, and told I was good. But I’ve heard nothing. She got in touch with him, and texted back to get in touch with him. But I said there’s no way I’m doing that now. I don’t trust him. I’m not going to throw away a secure job only for him to take me on for so long, and then get rid of me if that’s what he wanted to do. He promised he’d get in touch. He forgot me in 2 months but could remember me from a year ago. It does not give me a good impression of him.

Turned out I made the right move in staying where I was too. I have heard stuff about him, and it’s not good. He’s not that nice as he made out to be.

How do you feel when it comes to the job your in or applying for. Do you feel the same. Vote below.

It may be a little quiet…

It may be a little quiet here on the blog for it bit, but I won’t be away long. I’m having a long weekend away at my boyfriends place. Hopefully will feel refreshed by it, but I’ll also be working on my virtual house warming party for you blogger’s that visit here. So hopefully you will like it. And it’s just for fun. I need that at the moment. Not done it before and never heard of it until Sarah suggested it in a comment on my previous topic. …so I’m working on it! And hopefully it will be on here soon, either the 20th May itself or after….you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled, or you will miss out.

Take care and bye for now.
