Hello world!
Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m HOH and this blog was created so I hopefully came across other HOH people like me in the Nottinghamshire area, to discuss deaf issues that affect us. But regardless of where you live, or whether your HOH like me, or Deaf. You are welcome on this site.
And although this is mainly to discuss deaf issues, I’m sure I will be doing other posts we could chat about too.

Speak Up Librarian Shop
As I mentioned on a post called some updates I mentioned at the end that I was excited because I collected a parcel from the Post Office, and it was my tops I was waiting for from Speak Up Librarian Shop
They came packaged in a box, and came on time, considering I’m ordering overseas and our recent postal strikes here.
I got my Mum to take pictures of me modelling them for you as promised. So here they are
And here is picture of me wearing T-shirt, which I thought my Mum had finally took a clear picture of it, but realised she hasn’t when I took a closer look. If you want to see closer look of this t-shirt, visit this link on Speak Up Librarian Shop.

Cast Offs
Tonight on Channel 4 new comedy drama series will start called Cast Offs. Now when I first heard about this, I wasn’t sure what to think, as I got the wrong of the stick with it, and thought basically that people with disabilities would be pulled to bits. But I discovered I was wrong this morning when I watched This Morning on ITV, and they were talking about it and showing clips, and it looks good, and it will highlight that just cos there may be a disability, does not mean your not good at something. Two actors who are in this, appeared on This Morning to talk about it, and like one of them said, disability will be raised, and what is good about this drama he said, is that you see it as it is. Also it’s nice to see actors and actresses with disabilities themselves playing the part, rather than get someone to act out a disability.
So hopefully film makers, when they need an actor or actress to play a disabled part, they get a disabled person to play it, rather than someone fake it. After all there are plenty out there who could do it.
So I will be watching it tonight.
Here’s the link here to read more about this programme.

Started wearing my right hearing aid again
Started wearing my right hearing aid again today, with my ear seeming ok now. I think it’s now the matter of time to getting used to my hearing aid now. Since wearing hearing aids I’ve always had air vents in them. And I think this is why I’m having problems. But it’s early days and only time will tell. If I still don’t feel right, I’ll have to see if there is something they can do. But I’d doubt it this time, cos there isn’t the room for an air vent like I had in my old ones. So don’t know what they will do.

Some updates
Just some updates:
My ear over the weekend does not feel stuffed, so I’m hoping it’s cleared up. To make sure though I’m going to leave it for a few days before I put my right hearing aid back in.
This morning I went out to buy the necessary things for when I buy my Syrian Hamster. The cage was set up by dinner ready, and I went to my local pet shop in the afternoon, for my hamster. I decided I was having a female by then. (Could not make my mind up this morning). I will show a picture of her soon here on my blog. I’ve called her Bubbles.
I picked up my parcel at the Post Office this morning, and I was sooo excited when I knew where it was from! My t-shirt and tank top from Speak Up Librarian Shop has arrived. Yipee! I will post photos here as promised later, modelling them.

Weekend away…
Had an unexpected weekend away, but it was ok as I got to see the area Richard originally came from. His parents have finally been offered a bungalow a couple of weeks ago, and they needed help moving. So Richard and his brother helped out their Dad with this move while I kept his Mum company at their bungalow they’ve moved too, which was very nice and cosy to their old place.
When they did a few travels back and forth from old place to new bringing their packed things, I managed to go down later to see where they used to live, and got to see a bit of Brigg. A lovely place!
Me and Richard stayed overnight at his brother’s place, as there was more work to do the next day. Again I stayed at the bungalow with his Mum, while they got more stuff from their old place. I went out to their local shops at dinner to see a bit of where they are living now. Lovely quiet area.
Later in the afternoon we made our way back home, with a detour of Kirton in Lindsey, where Richard first had a flat of his own.
And after my weekend I had enjoyed here, although I did not get to see much of Richard with him helping with the move (although he said he will make it up to me), I’ve decided I’m going to buy a Syrian Hamster, also known as the Golden Hamster. Although I’ve not said anything to Richard until at the weekend, I have been thinking about owning another pet, a hamster, the last 2 weeks. And although I was fascinated with his brothers fish tank, Like I said to Richard I want to be able to touch a pet again of a fury kind. And if I’m going to have a pet than a hamster would be suitable. He’s tried to put me off in the past, as he wanted for me to grieve for Lady which I have, but not completely stop me from having a pet as I first thought. He said if I really wanted one, after seeing how I am and feel about another pet, than get one. So one day this week I will. I will post a picture on here when I can, and when its’ settled in its new home.

Willowbrook Medical Practice
For those of you that live local in Sutton-in-Ashfield, if your doctors is at Willowbrook Medical Practice. Did you know you can now make appointments online? I discovered that myself not long ago, but only just decided today to enquire about this, and now I’m registered so I can book my appointment with the doctors this way.
Idea for anyone, but if your HOH or deaf, than it’s brilliant news for us that this is available. So if you’re interested booking your future appointments this way, then enquire at the reception desk when you next visit.

My ear problem update
Called at my doctors today regarding my ear, and I was able to wait and see the Duty Doctor. I’m to give it chance to settle in the next couple of weeks, as because I had a cough that just cleared up a week ago, that was more likely to be fluid behind the ear drum, if there is swelling of the tubing that connects to your throat, and drains mucus. If it’s flared up, it can cause narrowing, so it does not drain away easy. He looked at my ears and there were no signs of ear wax or infection.
