Hello world!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m HOH and this blog was created so I hopefully came across other HOH people like me in the Nottinghamshire area, to discuss deaf issues that affect us. But regardless of where you live, or whether your HOH like me, or Deaf. You are welcome on this site.

And although this is mainly to discuss deaf issues, I’m sure I will be doing other posts we could chat about too.

My Favourite Pictures Of All

These are my cherished photos of Lady I have framed, both I have had for some years. I’ve taken these pictures while they were still in their frame with my camera phone to share with you, which is why they are not clear as they normally would be. I found difficulty trying to take them with my camera phone, as I had to avoid using my flash on my camera, as well as trying not to get too much glare from natural light, and reflections. I hope you like them anyway.

As you can see in above picture of her asleep, you will now see why I fell in love with the statue I bought recently for her resting place. It looks soooo much like her.

This other photo I think is also a good shot of her I’d like to share with you also.

from phone 002

She looks like lady of leisure here!

Her name ‘Lady’ I chosen for her that she responded to when I first had her all those years ago, certainly suited her!

As well as liking a picture of her I use for my avatar when blogging, I also like this one too.

housewarming blog post 002I think she looked cute here. This was the last picture I had taken of her only just a few months before I lost her.

Lady could be very hard when it came to taking pictures of her, but after persevering, I always got my shot I liked.

Hope you liked these pictures I share with you :)

Lady’s resting place

Lady's final resting place

Lady's final resting place

As you know my cat Lady had to be put to sleep on 20th May, after she deteriorated the weekend before, and I mentioned how my best friend Kath, offered if I wanted to have Lady buried in her garden. This was very nice of her and I accepted, which I’m extremely grateful for, as where I live there is no garden.

I thought I’d share Lady’s resting place with you, as you can see, my friend picked a lovely part for her in the garden.

The statue of a cat asleep, is what Kath told me about after she seen it in a particular shop that she thought I would like for her spot, as she knew I planned to buy something special.

As soon as I seen it in the shop, I immediatiely stroked it, as it really looked like her to me, and I fell in love with it. So I had to buy it. The pot with the flowers were put there by Kath.

“Rest in peace Lady,

and enjoy the sunshine.

Love you and miss you always”

My feet

I won’t show picture as I know some can cringe at the idea of feet. But I thought I’d give you another update on my foot since my last post, when I mentioned I bought new sandals, which I’ve wore now and again but not all day as they need to be bedded in.

I have since bought a pair of pumps to see if I’d be ok walking in them. As I mentioned before I’ve found I’m not able to wear flat sandals, they have to have at least a 1 inch heel. But I thought I’d try some pumps and see how I go with them, with them being more flexible, and found I’m ok with these. Yipee! So off to buy another pair.

I’ve also noticed over time since my operation how well my feet are starting to look, because I can walk pain free, bare-footed around the flat, which I couldn’t do much of that before my op. So my big toe nails are halfway there growing healthy nail. Its took healthy toe nail to grow through that I realise I’m benefiting more than I thought since my op, as I did not realise they were quiet bad before. I know its because my feet are getting more air around them that new healthy nail is growing through.

Now I only need to start extending my wardrobe collection, so I have skirts and new dresses for the Summer thats here. I’m slower getting round to this part than I reckon to be. I think its because its been soooo long.

Skype

I’ve set myself up with Skype recently. Its free to use if you are on 3 network. When or if ever I’ll use it I don’t know. But I did not know you could do chats through it as well. So that was something I learnt recently. I use and always will use Live Messenger for my IM, as this is free to use on 3 too. But I always like to give other things a go as well.

Does anyone else use Skype? What do you think of it?

New phone

I have decided recently to change to 3 network and buy a new phone from them, which I’ve bought a Nokia E63. I chose his because it has a querty keypad, which I find this easier for when I text, email or IM. So thats why I chose this phone, and I know 3 is ok too as I had mobile broadband with them once. And although I have left T-mobile to go to 3, I would always recommend T-mobile, if friends queried about what network to go as well as 3 I’m currently with, as they both have good customer service.

As for my Nokia I’ve just got the feel of it now, but there are still a few things I may need to learn with it at some point.

Rats

Does anyone own pet rats? What they like as pets? I don’t plan to have any pets for sometime yet, but if I did I may consider something small…like rats.

I’m aware they need to be with others so they are not lonely (same sex if you don’t want young). And that they are clean and surprisingly clever I recently discovered. My friend Kath suggested them once too me some months ago, as her grand daughter used to own a pair at one time. But I also know that if I did own rats of my own, there will be some friends and family that will think, euurgh! and pull their face. Or maybe not even come to flat as one once friend said once. I know where they are coming from, as used to be like that.

But I know also still I may have a little problem, and that’s their tails…because they don’t have hair on them, after I went to a pet shop once to look at them. But if I did find I don’t have a problem like I think I have, and did own them myself sometime in the future, I know I could go away on holidays, knowing a friend could look after them, as she looked after her grand daughters once or twice.

I’d like to hear of any rat owners here, who can talk about their pleasures and joys they get out of owning a pet rat.

A card to share with you…

new pics 001I’ve had several cards for welcoming me into my new home, which are all lovely, but this one particularly touched me because of the words said on the front of this card, which are the bottom right of this corner, that you will probablly not make out as it’s blured.

It said “Each opening flower is a soul opening out to nature”

Had a new hair cut

I’ve had a new hair cut which I thought I’d share with you. Here is my latest picture of it, in my new flat. :)  new pics 002

I had it straightened on this occasion, but I hope this cut also works with my natural waves when I can’t be bothered to straighten it. Which it should as, I mentioned this at the hairdressers. I like it so far, but I’ll know by end of next week whether I still do or not. :)

My hairdressers I went to to try was only a couple of doors away. Service was good here.

Usually when I feel I need to have a new start in life. I tend to express it with my hair some way. So far, whatever I’ve done to my hair, I’ve not regretted what I’ve done. This is my natural hair colour, just like my old picture in ‘About Me’ section. The last time I expressed myself with my hair was when I dyed it red. It was the first time I had coloured my hair, which I had done at a hairdressers, and really liked. But I don’t plan to do it again. But I’ll never say never. Cos you never know with me.

This time I had my hair cut to this new style because of my new start at my flat, which I’m much happier in than my old place. (You know the troubles I had there.) Also, sadly on the same day I moved into my flat, I had to make the decision of putting my cat, Lady to sleep, who I miss very much. Having my hair cut is like trying to get rid of the past with it, is why I’ve done it…. a fresh start. I hope you understand where I’m coming from with this. I don’t know how to make it clearer..it’s hard I find. But I do know by doing this I can’t get rid of past feelings just like that, and that it does take time.
